On 31 January, 48 senior students (GE/Year 11 – GR/Year 13) gathered for this year’s internal MUN conference. The Hertford Centre was transformed into the Human Rights Committee for the day, with Maddie and Will (both GR/Year 13) chairing debates on ethical working standards and journalistic free speech. Meanwhile, in the Security Council (aka the Wakefield Centre), Lara and Megan (both GR/Year 13) oversaw discussion of the war in Ukraine and approaches to counterterrorism. An afternoon of lively, intelligent discussion was followed by the evening’s formal dinner and prize-giving, with awards going to those delegates who had spoken most impressively or produced the most convincing resolutions. As a bonus, everyone met again the following day for an entertaining Crisis Council devised by Ella (GR/Year 13). All in all, this was a very successful event and a great warm-up for the prestigious Haileybury MUN Conference in March.
