Back in February, a Rail Safety themed art workshop was held for Year 5 pupils in the Art Department at Christ’s Hospital, in conjunction with Sussex Community Rail. The visiting Year 5 pupils created colourful posters to help promote rail safety, under the guidance of Christ’s Hospital Art teachers.

After a delay due to the current situation, the children’s posters, created during the workshop, can now be seen on display at train stations along the Arun Line. The schools whose pupils took part in the workshop are mentioned on the posters and are: Arunside Primary School, Greenway Academy, Shelley Primary School, St John’s Catholic Primary School and Holy Trinity Primary School.

“The pupils were a delight to work with,” said Maddy Mills, Education Officer for the Sussex Community Rail Partnership. “The workshop focused on railway safety and I’m excited to see the pupils’ finished posters promoting rail safety.”

Railway safety is part of the Go Learn education programme, delivered by the Sussex Community Rail Partnership and Southern Rail, which aims to help children develop confidence and skills for safe, independent travel on public transport.
