We are delighted that three of our School Council Leaders have won Student Voice Awards.

The Student Voice Awards is a national competition which is organised by VotesForSchools and promotes student voice by recognising and celebrating high quality and inspiring practice.

Keighley (GR/Year 13) was the overall student winner, while Maddie (DG/Year 12) was runner-up and Max (GR/Year 13) was highly commended.

According to the judges, who were James Cathcart from Young Voices Heard, Nic Ponsford from the Global Equality Collective and Annie Waddington from UK Parliament, there was tough competition this year.

The judges made some very positive comments about our pupils, which included the following:

‘Keighley’s commitment to change along with her organisational skills shine through.’

‘Maddie comes across as both determined and thoughtful, an initiator and a doer, but I was particularly impressed with positive endorsement from her peers as someone willing to speak up for us.’

‘Max’s activities both inside and outside of school mark him out as one to watch for the future.’
