The final ‘big ticket’ event of the term was the Angus Ross Memorial Concert, which sees Grecians (Year 13s) perform concerto movements with the Symphony Orchestra in the first half, before the Chapel Choir and Choral Society join to perform a major work in the second half.

Earlier in the term, we had been joined by our professional ensemble in partnership, the English Chamber Orchestra, who visited CH for an afternoon of masterclasses ahead of joining with our orchestras for the concert itself. Soloists Oliver, Oscar, and Rosie performed movements from the Grieg Piano Concerto, Elgar Cello Concerto, and Strauss Horn Concerto respectively, playing with poise, sensitivity, and fire when appropriate. The concert – and the term – concluded with an emotional performance of Karl Jenkins’s The Armed Man with more than 150 musicians giving their all.
