Debating Success

Kyran (DG/Year 12), Toga and Mya (GR/Year 13) were successful in the English Speaking Union Schools’ Mace Debating competition on 2 February, getting through to the regional final, which will take place in half term.

They were proposing the motion ‘This House would lower the voting age to 16’. All three provided a convincing case for their side, showing a great amount of independence and critical thinking in their prepared speeches.  They delivered these with highly impressive articulation and clarity.

The school Debating Society meets twice weekly and encourages both junior and senior pupils to get involved in developing their speaking skills and engaging in healthy debate.
