On 25 January, CH welcomed five other schools for the regional final of the English Speaking Union Schools’ Mace debating competition. Our CH team, Summer, Seb and Sarah, tested their debating mettle with the motion ‘This House would grant prisoners the right to vote’. They had to oppose the motion, a particularly difficult challenge given that they found themselves having to think deeply about human rights and the voting system. Christ’s Hospital has a large Debating Society which stretches across the junior and senior year groups. We participate in a number of national competitions each year and, later this term, senior students of the Society will be involved in our annual Law Debate.
