Science Live Trip

On 3 November, 20 Grecian (Year 13) chemists had a great day attending Science Live at The Emmanuel Centre in London. The pupils enjoyed five wide-ranging lectures from leading academics: Professor Andrea Sella discussed chemical weapons and chemistry’s difficult relationship with them; Professor Lucy Carpenter gave us a tour of global atmospheric chemistry; Professor Serena Cussen outlined her cutting-edge research in developing new batteries; Dr Peter Worthers lead us through the development of the periodic table; and Dr Tim Gabriel finished the day on a high, giving a brilliant tour of his career in nanomaterials.

CH pupils commented how good a day it had been, and how they had enjoyed being exposed to wider chemistry topics, building on their A level foundation. Furthermore, they found it very hard to agree which talk they had enjoyed the most!
