UCAS Parent & Pupil Event

On Sunday 29 September, Grecians (Year 13) and parents attended a keynote address led by Mr Martin Birchall on ‘UCAS and Beyond’. Martin Birchall is the founder and Managing Director of High Fliers Research, an independent market research company specialising in researching the graduate employment market. For the last twenty years, High Fliers Research has tracked the career plans and aspirations of final year students at the UK’s leading universities, as well as regularly analysing the graduate vacancies, starting salaries and work experience available at the country’s best-known and most sought-after employers. Martin is also editor of The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers, the annual careers directory featuring the country’s leading employers of new graduates. Martin shared his research as part of his talk and gave practical tips to students on preparing for the graduate market. Martin kindly gave copies of his reach to pupils and parents at the end of the session. Pupils benefitted from hearing first-hand about the education and employment climate ahead of them, and how best to prepare for it now!
